About the Hackathon

Beyond Policies. Build Autonomous Identity.

This is an invite-only event open to graduate students and industry professionals. We personally invite a curated cohort of builders who we believe will produce the most impactful work on OBI.

Identity security has been stuck in the same loop for decades. Static roles, periodic reviews, rule-based policies. These systems were built for predictable environments but yours isn't predictable anymore.

OBI - ObservelD Behavioral Intelligence changes the question from "Does this user meet a predefined condition?" to "Should this access exist right now?" For the first time, we're opening OBI to a select group of builders. Your challenge: use real-time identity signals to build the next wave of autonomous, intelligent access workflows.

THE CHALLENGE

Challenge Tracks

Participants will select one of three tracks to build within. All tracks require meaningful integration with the OBI platform.

Autonomous Risk Response

Build a system that uses OBI's behavioural signals to detect anomalous identity patterns and trigger automated, context-aware risk responses without human intervention.

Predictive Access Intelligence

Use OBI's continuous evaluation data to predict access risk before incidents occur, enabling proactive rather than reactive identity governance.

Intelligent Workflow Automation

Design an intelligent workflow layer that uses OBI signals to automate identity lifecycle decisions, provisioning, de-provisioning, access reviews — with minimal manual input.

EOI Closes & Shortlisting

ObserveID's team reviews all form submissions. Selection is based on technical depth, domain relevance, and build track record.

Invitations Sent

Jun 13, 2026

Selected participants receive a formal invitation with OBI sandbox credentials, starter kit, and Discord access. All applicants get a response.

Kickoff & Orientation

Jun 16, 2026

Live virtual kickoff session with ObserveID leadership. API deep-dive, challenge briefing, and team formation finalized.

Building Period

Jun 16 – Jun 30, 2026

14 days of async building, fully online. Mentor office hours 3x per week. All collaboration happens virtually.

Submissions Close

Jun 30, 2026 – 11:59 PM UTC

All projects submitted via the platform. Required: working prototype, code repository, and a 3-minute demo video.

Demo Day & Awards

Jul 7, 2026

Finalists present live to the judging panel. Winner recognized ($10,000) and runner-up ($3,000). Prizes paid within 30 days.

The best solution wins $10,000. The runner-up takes $3,000. Both teams earn the recognition of building something real on the OBI platform in front of industry experts.

Judging Process

Blind Review Round

All submissions are anonymized before judges review them. Shortlisted finalists advance to Demo Day.

Judge Calibration

Before Demo Day, all judges score sample projects independently to ensure consistent, fair scoring.

Live Demo Day

Finalists present a 5-minute demo followed by a 5-minute Q&A with the full judging panel.

Winner Announced

The winning team and runner-up are announced live at the close of Demo Day.

By submitting an expression of interest and accepting an invitation, you agree to these terms. Read them carefully - especially the IP section.

Important: ObserveID Owns the Rights to All Submissions

By participating, you grant ObserveID a perpetual, royalty-free license to use your submission commercially. Non-prize participants receive no monetary compensation.

🛡️ Intellectual Property & Submission Rights

By submitting a project to the ObservelD Hackathon, participants grant ObserveiD a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, distribute, display, and create derivative works from all submitted projects, code, documentation, and associated materials. What this means in plain language:

ObservelD has the right to use your submitted solution commercially, Integrate it into the ObservelD platform, or build upon it - without additional compensation beyond the prizes awarded. The $10,000 winner prize and $3,000 runner-up prize are the full and final consideration for this licence. All other participants receive no monetary compensation. You retain the right to discuss your work publicly and include it in your portfolio.

Any pre-existing intellectual property incorporated into your submission must be clearly disclosed. Open-source components must comply with their respective licenses. ObservelD retains all rights to the OBI platform, APIs, and all background IP provided to participants.

This is an invite-only event. Participation is contingent on receiving a formal invitation from ObservelD following review of your expression of interest. Submitting an EOI does not guarantee participation. ObservelD's selection decisions are final and not subject to appeal. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Employees and direct contractors of Observeld and its subsidiaries are not eligible to compete for prizes. Invited participants may compete as individuals or as teams of up to 4 members. All team members must be individually invited or approved by ObservelD.

⚖️ Code of Conduct

All participants are expected to maintain a respectful, inclusive environment throughout the event. Harassment, hate speech, plagiarism, or any conduct deemed harmful to other participants will result in immediate disqualification and rernoval from the community. Violations can be reported to hackathon@observeld.com. Observeld reserves the right to disqualify any participant for violations at its sole discretion. Invited status may be revoked at any time for conduct violations.

💻 API & Platform Usage

OBI sandbox access is granted solely to invited participants for the purpose of building their hackathon submission. Credentials are non-transferable and must not be shared with non-invited individuals. Reverse engineering, scraping, attempting to access production ObservelD systems, or using the sandbox for any commercial purpose outside of the hackathon is strictly prohibited. API access is automatically revoked at the close of the submission window. Rate limits and usage quotas will be communicated at kickoff.
